Try this, use a slower reducer for the base, & slow down when spraying both clear & base. The rp 1.3 tip isn’t exactly for speed, & turn the psi down to 29-32 for both coats. when clearing. I have not personally used it, but my buddy who owns the shop I had my car in, used the shopline basecoat on a '66 Chevelle. When I went to get some for my last project, I was told OMNI was being phased out and Shopline was the new OMNI. The Shopline was utter garbage. What took 3 coats in OMNI took NINE coats in Shopline. The PPG Shop Line product line is also good and is what I have been using for the past few years. I changed over when the cost of Deltron went through the roof. I've used both lines, Matrix and Shopline/Omni and both worked fine for me. The Matrix High Solids MS42 came out nice as well. Try this, use a slower reducer for the base, & slow down when spraying both clear & base. The rp 1.3 tip isn’t exactly for speed, & turn the psi down to 29-32 for both coats. when clearing. The rp isn’t design to be sprayed @ the psi your using. Since your using a speed clear, u may need to use a slower hardener or reducer as well. Jan 06, 2011 · 5windowMemberfrom central Pennsylvania. Deltron is far superior to Omni, especially in the high metallics and pearls. If I was doing a base color like plain black or red I would use Omni. Omni was an old line that PPG bought out, quite similar to DuPont and Nason. Most if not all of the industrial line of paints PPG offers will be Omni.I had a similar problem with some shop line products. The base is usually ok but i usually upgrade in clear. Using a super light color primer under white can also give you a false sense of coverage. I would recommend using a medium gray primer under it.
